Another fast and fabulous Scarf. Knit in a Chunky wool on 9mm needles this quick scarf is fun to knit and looks great with some funky buttons.
There are some great yarn options.
- Sirdar Denim Ultra – Photo 1 with wooden buttons – 1 ball
- Twilleys Freedom – Photo 2 with blue flower buttons – 2 balls
- Tivoli Cloud – Photo 4 with flower printed buttons – 1 ball
- Aran combo – two strands of aran wool – photo 3 with pink flower buttons.
Needle size – 9mm or 10 mm depending on yarn used.
Instructions – Cast on 21 Stitches using long tail method and knit 3 rows.
Button hole row – knit 5 yarn forward knit 2 together, knit 3 yarn forward knit 2 together, knit 3 yarn forward knit 2 together, knit 4.
Knit until you are almost out of yarn – cast off making sure you have enough yarn left over to tidy up button holes and sew on buttons. Finish by darning in ends and putting on buttons.
Scarf measurement – width – 8.5 inches length – 21.5 inches this is in Tivoli Cloud but could be up to 23 inches depending on yarn used. Any longer than this and you will not have a snug fit and the scarf will droop.
Hey there. I’m a VERY beginning knitter. In the button hole row, do you mean to knit 5 stitches, then do one yarn forward, then knit 2 together, knit 3 stitches, then yarn forward, etc? I’m fairly certain you do (as counting stitches, that makes 21) Thanks.
